ACADEMIC PROFILE

About

I am professor for Software Engineering at the Institute of Mobile and Distributed Systems of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW).

I teach courses at Bachelor and Masters degree in Software Engineering, Software Construction, Software Testing, and C# and .NET programming in the department of Computer Science.

My research focuses on everything that helps make software development more efficient, particularly agile methodologies, tool-supported agile collaboration, automated software construction, and software metrics and analysis.

I am co-founder of the Swiss Agile Research Network (SARN) and co-author of the bi-annual Swiss Agile Study.

Teaching and continuing education

I have headed the CAS Agile Organisation continuing education programme at FHNW. The programme addresses project managers, team managers, project leaders and company managers, including participants outside IT, who wish to make their organisations more agile. The Agile Organisation blogs document experiences from earlier courses.

I am a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a member of the Scrum Alliance.

Innovation and collaboration

I co-founded aTouch dynamics, a startup developing tools for agile collaboration with extra-large multi-touch displays. Its aWall product supports distributed collaboration and meetings including daily stand-ups and sprint planning. Contact aTouch dynamics.
